A replica Planet Ocean Ultra Deep 6000m is a copy of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep, a 45.5 mm dive watch rated to 6,000 m. Copies sell for $80 to $600. No replica maker publishes a pressure test at 6,000 m. Most copies leak in a 10 bar test, which equals 100 m.
Genuine watch specs
Omega released the Ultra Deep in 2022. The numbers that matter:
- Case diameter 45.5 mm. Thickness about 15 mm.
- Water resistance 6,000 m, or 600 bar, or about 8,700 psi.
- Case material: O-MEGASTEEL steel or grade 5 titanium.
- Calibre 8912. Co-Axial Master Chronometer. METAS certified. 60 hour power reserve. Magnetic resistance to 15,000 gauss.
- Domed sapphire crystal. Ceramic bezel insert. No date window.
The 2019 Five Deeps Expedition prototype reached 10,928 m in the Mariana Trench.
What the copies get right
Case diameter, dial text, and bezel action look close on the best builds. Most copies use 316L steel. A small number use grade 5 titanium. The crystal dome shape matches on the top tier.
What the copies get wrong
- Thickness. Many copies measure 16 mm or more.
- Water resistance. See below.
- Weight. Sellers list a titanium case that is steel. Titanium weighs about 40 percent less.
- Movement finish and rotor text.
Movement groups
- Quartz. $60 to $120. The second hand ticks. The rotor is fake or absent.
- Automatic. Miyota 8215, Seagull ST21, or a Hangzhou clone. Power reserve 38 to 42 hours. $150 to $300.
- Decorated automatic with engraved bridges. $350 to $600.
No replica movement carries METAS certification. Master Chronometer text on a replica rotor is cosmetic.
Water resistance of copies
A copy has three seals: a caseback O-ring, a crown gasket, and a crystal gasket. Some builds hold 5 bar. Some fail at 3 bar. The 6,000 m rating needs a 600 bar test. Factories do not run that test. Do not dive with a replica.
Check items before payment
- Caliper photos of case diameter and thickness.
- A pressure test result with a date and the tester model.
- Weight in grams.
- A lume photo 30 minutes after charge.
- A movement photo of the actual watch.
Sellers who answer all five items in one message are the ones to trust. Stock photos are a warning sign.
Limits and risks
A replica is not an ISO 6425 dive watch. Resale value is near zero. US customs can seize counterfeit goods at import, and no shipping insurance covers that loss. Parts are scarce, because fewer factories build this model than a Submariner copy. Service support for the movement is limited to general watch repair shops.
